Abject Art (series)

An abject is, in opposition to an object or a subject something that once was part of a subject but was then cast of (or away) to become an object. Things like hair, teeth, shells etc. can be qualified as abjects. It is derived from the Latin iactare (to throw) or ab-iactare (to throw away) and was coined a a psychological term by feminist thinker Julia Kristeva >>.  I have been instantly fascinated by the concept upon first reading it and felt compelled to produce some abject art.
